Published on August 1, 2012

Today is the next interview in the “Get Your Sexy On” series and I’m very happy to bring you the next machine out of the 360  Specialized Training Gym, Dan “Bullet” Sorrell!

This 26 Year Old is full of energy and is a solid powerhouse at the 360 Specialized Gym in Cape Town! He is a SACS boy and currently resides out of the Republic of Hout Bay! If there is an outdoor activity, you’ll probably find him there as he is a huge fan of anything that is either in the mountains or in the ocean!

So, no more time wasting, it’s time to Get Your Sexy On with Dan “Bullet” Sorrell.

Mike: Dan The MAN!! Thanks for taking some time away from Beast Mode to come chat!! To get things rolling, where you are from?

Dan: I was born and bred in Cape Town, so I’m 100% Capetonian!

Mike: How did you choose to train people over sitting around in front of a computer all day?

DanWell I have been involved in sport my whole life, from surfing, rugby, squash to my real love at the moment which is trail running. Keeping fit has always been important to me!

Screw long walks on the beach, Dan prefers long runs on the beach!

Mike: You look like you know your stuff man!! What qualifications do you have?

Dan: I graduated from Stelllenbosch University with a degree in Sports Science. (Mike: Dude, that’s a pretty impressive qualification right there!)

Mike: What made you decide to choose 360 Specialized Training as your home to turn people into fitness machines?

DanThe revolutionary style of training attracted me from the beginning. It completely changed my views and ways of training. It was a complete change from what I was used to.

Mike: What role do you take at 360 Specialized Training?

DanExercise physiologist….. haha! Personal trainer and legend! (Mike: Haha!! Dude, you are a legend as are all of you folks over there at 360)

Mike: So what do you specialize in at 360 Specialized Training?

DanI specialize in functional training, which is basically getting the body to move in everyday movements! I focus on movement patterns and not just single joint movements.

Mike: What sort of tunes are in your bag of favorites?

DanGeez hey, mixed bag. Mainly electronic music from psy trance to minimal to 70 and 80’s rock.

Mike: Everyone has that one song that gets them amped for a serious session at the gym, what is your “Power” song?

DanWould have to say Paint it Black by the Rolling Stones. (Mike: That is an amazing track!! No surprise you picked it!)

Mike: What day did the “Bullet” shoot out into this world?

Dan: Haha! I was born on the 29th of May 1986! I’m a Gemini! (Mike: Nice one man! I wouldn’t say that you have that evil twin though that most Gemini’s have, I’d rather put you equally awesome twins!)

Mike: Which are you a fan of, Beer or Whiskey?

Dan: I’d have to say both to be honest!

Mike: When you are not pushing your clients and everyone else at 360 Specialized Training to be awesome, how often are you hitting the gym training yourself?

Dan: I’m at the gym 6 to 7 times a week! (Mike: It’s not an easy job, but I’m sure you love every second of it!)

Mike: Which of these exercises would you say you enjoy most –  Cardio, Weight Training or Body Weight Training?

DanI enjoy everything really but I can’t say I don’t like chucking some weights around. (Mike: Haha! Fair enough, nothing better than a solid session with the weights as I’ve experienced in one of your Kettle Bell classes!)

Mike: Everyone cheats from time to time on their diet, as I am sure you do (although you would never say from looking at your photographs), but if you were to cheat on your diet, what would be your choice in Junk Food?

Dan: Mmmmmm! KFC!! (Mike: Dude, I don’t blame you!! Nothing better when Hungover Haha!)

Mike: Which do you prefer when it comes to your protein, Chocolate or Strawberry?

Dan: I’d have to go with Chocolate!

Mike: Which class at 360 Specialized Training gets you the most excited to instruct?

DanWarrior Workout. Its the signature class at the gym where we get to basically freelance the session. We can focus on training mode we like either cardio, body weight, Kettle Bells, power , strength. I enjoy it because I get to use my own knowledge and put it into a fun, yet tough environment! (Mike: It’s by far my favorite class at the gym too! I’m still waiting for you to take a session that I’m part of, but if it’s anything like your Kettle Bell class, I’m amped to crawl out the gym Haha!)

Mike: In your opinion, why should people choose 360 Specialized Training over any other gym in Cape Town?

DanIt’s REVOLUTIONARY! It’s a way of life that everyone should be doing! (Mike: Damn STRAIGHT!!)

Mike: Which d you prefer,  hitting the road or tackling a trail if you were to go running?

DanDefinitely trail. I actually just completed the Hout Bay Trail Challenge on Saturday, by far the most mentally and physically tough thing I have done! (Mike: Congrats my man!! That is awesome!!)

Mike: Tell me something about yourself that not many people know about you?

Dan: I’m FULL of Tattoo’s!

Mike: Finally,  for those that want to follow you on Twitter, what is your username on the Tweet Machine?

Dan: They can follow me on Twitter by following @Dan360fit
